Two 19-year-old drivers were given roadside driving prohibitions Tuesday night after two pickups were seen being driven erratically, including doing tire burnouts, in a Langford parking lot.

West Shore RCMP arrived to find a grey Ford F350 and a red Dodge Ram in the Merchant Way lot, and determined both drivers showed signs of alcohol impairment.

The Dodge Ram driver was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and had the vehicle impounded for 30 days, while the Ford F350 driver was given a three-day prohibition along with a 30-day vehicle impoundment.

Cpl. Mike Jacobson, who leads the Traffic Safety Unit, said officers were able to locate the vehicles right away because it was reported to police while it was happening.

Jacobson urged anyone who sees dangerous driving behaviour or suspects impaired driving to report it to police immediately.
