B.C. confirms 481 new cases of COVID-19, for total of 145,530

There are now 145,530 cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in B.C. after health officials announced  481 new cases Monday (June 7).

From Friday to Saturday there were 218 cases, from Saturday to Sunday there were 131 and from Sunday to Monday there were 133.

Deputy Provincial Health Officer Dr. Reka Gustafson reported that there have been 70 new cases of COVID-19 in the Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­Coastal Health region, 285 in the Fraser Health region, nine in the Island Health region, 101 in the Interior Health region, 15 in the Northern Health Region and no new cases people who reside outside of Canada.

There is no update on the variants of concern in the province. 

There have been 12 new COVID-19 related deaths, for a total of 1,722 deaths from the virus. 

There are 2,102 active cases of COVID-19 in the province. 

Of the active cases, 199 individuals are currently hospitalized with COVID-19, 63 of whom are in intensive care. 

3,635,795 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in B.C.; 314,246 of these are second doses. 72 per cent of eligible British Columbians over 12 years old have received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine in B.C. 

Community pharmacies will begin calling people who received the AstraZeneca vaccine to book their second dose starting today.
