The popular restaurant inside the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver has temporarily closed doors after three of its employees tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).
Notch 8 Restaurant is currently closed and undergoing extensive deep cleaning with an external cleaning company.
"Fairmont Hotel Vancouver’s first priority is the safety and wellbeing of our employees and guests," a representative with the Fairmont Hotel Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»tells Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³».
"We are working closely with Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Coastal Health to follow the appropriate protocols to mitigate risk and ensure that our restaurant remains a healthy and safe place to work and visit."
All employees who were in close contact with these impacted individuals have been notified and are off-property. "We can confirm that the restaurant was following the hotel’s stringent ALLSAFE protocols and that the impacted employees had no close contact with guests."
Risk of transmission is low
Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Coastal Health (VCH) tells V.I.A. that the risk of transmission is low for those who were not in close contact and does not anticipate listing Notch 8 Restaurant as a public exposure location.
If WorkSafe BC/environmental health officers identify that improvements to the restaurant's COVID-19 safety plans are needed, they will work with businesses to ensure that the necessary protocols are in place.
Notch 8 Restaurant expects to re-open following an audit by VCH in the coming days.
