POMP & PAGEANTRY: The red carpet was rolled out for one of most anticipated events of the year in the Chinese community. More than a thousand guests attended the annual Miss Chinese Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Pageant Gala and Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) benefit dinner at the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Convention Centre. An evening of beautiful people, delicious food, and grand entertainment culminated with the crowning of Cindy Zhong, a 23-year-old student originally from Shanghai. Zhong will go on to compete for the World title in Hong Kong.

KIDS SCORE BIG: The Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Canucks and team brass hosted their annual Dice and Ice Gala. Canuck Nation converged at the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Convention Centre for the sold-out gala where players, including Alex Burrows and Roberto Luongo, fronted the casino tables for games of chance with adoring fans. Highlights included more than $500,000 raised for the Canucks for Kid Fund benefitting local children’s charities and rookies performing on stage with surprise musical guest Sarah McLachlan.

TICK TOCK: Store manager Jane Todd threw open the doors of her Omega Store in the Hotel Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»for the firm’s annual holiday party. Power players and society darlings mingled while pouring over exquisite timepieces that ranged from $4,000 to $85,000. Among the guests was Fasken Martineau’s Robin Dhir, co-founder of the Night of Miracles Gala, benefitting B.C. Children’s Hospital.
