Miku has launched a new Aburi Prime experience. The nigiri-focused omakase menu focuses on premium ingredients, presented with extra touches and fine dining service. The nine-piece nigiri set can be ordered for $55 or as part of a set menu for $88. Nigiri selections include monkfish liver with sweet soy reduction, Brome Lake foie gras with pickled wasabi, kelp-cured Japanese flounder, Hokkaido scallop with yuzu-orange salsa, Atlantic lobster, and A5 Japanese Wagyu with uni. The set menu includes an amuse bouche, a starter trio, the Aburi Prime and dessert. Optional $44 wine, sake and spirits pairings also available.

Homer St. Café and Bar has announced a new “Takeover” series. Each month will see a different distiller or brewer commandeer the restaurant’s kitchen and bar for one week, offering drink specials, collaborative menu items and ticketed tasting dinners. The first takeover, by Central City Brewers + Distillers, is on now and will close with a family-style tasting dinner on Sunday, Dec. 10. Future takeovers will feature Wiser’s Whisky and Phillips Brewery and Fermentorium.

Noodlebox has partnered with Chocolate Arts to create a special Chili Chocolate Truffle pack for the holidays. The truffles come in five different spice levels, ranging from mild to hot, and sell for $10 per box. Available at all Noodlebox locations while supplies last.

Ganache Patisserie is offering four new versions of the classic bûche de Noël. Choose between the chocolate-caramel-almond, hazelnut-chocolate-cranberry, classic dark chocolate and coffee-caramel. All Yule logs are available in either an 8-inch or 12-inch size. Pre-ordering for pick-up Dec. 20-24 is recommended.

Forage is open for holiday lunches Dec. 6-22, Monday to Friday, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. The four-course family-style menu is $40 per person and includes apple-endive salad, charcuterie board, both roasted Fraser Valley turkey with all the trimmings and smoked pork rack roast for your main, and apple galette with vanilla ice cream and salted caramel for dessert.

The Cascade Company (The Cascade Room, El Camino’s, The Union and Main Street Brewing) is once again holding its December fundraiser to support Fawkes Academy PAC (the school provides individual education programs for kids with autism spectrum disorder, other complex developmental disabilities, and other learning needs). For the month of December, purchase a jar of GM Justin Taylor’s Hot Buttered Rum Mix for $12 and $2 will be donated to the Fawkes PAC. The mix is comprised of brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger and salt, contains no alcohol, and can be added to hot water (rum optional). Available at all four locations.

Chez Christophe has launched its holiday collection of chocolate art sculptures, holiday-themed truffles and chocolate barks, a new advent calendar and bûche de Noël flavours. Look for mini Christmas trees decorated with truffles, chocolate typography, chocolate elves, deer and wreaths. Yule log flavours include chestnut sponge and cappuccino mousse, matcha chiffon with lemon-yuzu mousse, and milk chocolate with mandarin crémeux and sponge. There is also a chocolate advent calendar.

Beaucoup Bakery has also launched its holiday collection, including gingerbread financiers, Basque cake, Kugelhopf (Alsatian bread), orange-cherry double-baked chocolate croissants, pecan-banana-sage chocolate tart, mulled wine-pear Bostock and potato raclette tarte. The annual holiday cookie collection is also back, this year with smoked Russian tea cakes, malted coffee thins, chocolate-pistachio sandwich cookies and pecan-praline shortbread. Cookies are available individually, as well as by the dozen.
