Bells and Whistles, the new beerhall from Goosneck Hospitality (Wildbeest, Bufala, Lucky Taco), has officially opened 3296 Fraser Street. Open daily from 11:00 a.m. to midnight for dine-in or take-out, the space boasts 150 seats, interactive table games room with complimentary play between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily, and two state-of-the-art projection screens.

Musical chairs at Top Table restaurants…in advance of the opening of Il Caminetto in Whistler, the restaurant group has announced some changes and shuffling among its staff. Executive chef Quang Dang of West Restaurant will be moving to Whistler to take over from Araxi exeucutive chef James Walt. Walt will be the executive chef at Il Caminetto, as well as overseeing the food program at Bar Oso with chef Jorge Muños Santos. Replacing Dang at West will be former West kitchen alumni Bobby Milheron, currently senior sous chef at Boulevard Kitchen and Oyster Bar.

Tickets are now on sale for the Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»Christmas Market, which will run November 22 to December 24 at Jack Poole Plaza. In addition to family-friendly activities like the carousel, on-site Santa, and arts and crafts activities hosted by 4Cats, there will be more than 75 huts featuring German and European crafts, foods and beverages, including the always-popular spit-roasted pork hocks, stöllen, pretzels, bratwursts, and more. The market will be open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (until 6:00 p.m. on December 24). Adults $10, seniors $9, children ages 7-12 $5, six and under free.

The line-up for the 2018 Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»International Wine Festival has been announced and includes 177 wineries from 15 countries. The regional focus will be Spain and Portugal, with 38 wineries from Spain and 24 from Portugal. In total, more than 1,500 wines will be poured at the upcoming festival. There will also be sake makers from Japan, Canada and Oregon. In addition to Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»Convention Centre headquarters, more than 20 restaurants around the city will host winery dinners, lunches, seminars, and wine minglers. The festival will take place February 24, 2018 to March 4, 2018.

Happy chickens, happy eggs…Vitala Foods in Abbotsford has launched Freebird Eggs, produced from healthy, free-range, ethically-raised chickens. The chickens live in spacious, cage-free barns with unlimited access to outdoor grass pasture. They are fed an all-natural, vegetarian diet supplemented with vitamin D, making them the only eggs on the market to contain a full daily dose of vitamin D in a single egg. On Tuesday, October 17, Ancora will be hosting a special winemaker dinner with Marchesi Di Grésy. Winery owner and winemaker Alberto Di Grésy will be in attendance. The six-course menu will be paired with signature wines and includes seafood causa, octopus anticucho, panca-glazed sablefish, braised short rib, and more. Tickets $195 plus tax and gratuities. On Thursday, November 16, the second annual winter pop-up at Rosewood Hotel Georgia’s Reflections outdoor garden terrace will launch. The space will be transformed into a winter wonderland, with festive décor and holiday-inspired cocktails and dishes. Look for menu items such as cheese fondue, mocha profiteroles, short rib poutine, spice BBQ pork tacos, and chocolate-banana bread pudding.
On Wednesday, November 22, Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»Aquarium will once again host the 10th annual Ocean Wise Chowder Chowdown. Top Ocean Wise chefs will compete head-to-head for the title of best chowder. A panel of judges, as well as guests, will choose their respective champions. All chowders will be paired with local craft beers. This year’s participants include Boulevard Kitchen and Oyster Bar, Brodo Kitchen, Go Fish, Pacific Yacht Charters, Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts, and more. Tickets $75 plus tax. This is a 19+ event.
