Re: "Vision pokes hornet's nest at community centres," Feb. 1.
I am not a member of any Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»community centre, but as a life-long resident of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»and part of the growing "senior" population, I am very concerned at the current effort of the park commissioners and city council, to remove the "community" from the day operations of our community centres.
By definition, a community is "a number of people having common ties or interest and living in the same locality." (Thorndike-Barnhart Comprehensive Desk Dictionary.) Clearly, the proposed position by park commissioners, and city council, on the overall local association management of these centres would remove the term "community."
I trust that those involved in the decision making will retain the concept of community and permit the individuals involved to continue their efforts in a true Community Centre.
