To the editor:
I'm glad city council voted to make the Hornby and Dunsmuir bike lanes permanent. I ride around the Dunbar, Point Grey UBC area regularly, and sometimes to the Burrard Bridge Marina. I have not cycled downtown for a few years, but I do drive Hornby once or twice a month, and like the look of the bike lane. Hornby has been as easy to drive since the bike lane went in as it was before, and it's great to see that cyclists are well protected from the car and truck traffic.
Another thing the city needs to do is replace those temporary concrete barriers on the Burrard Bridge with lighter, thinner steel ones. That will provide a little more room on the sidewalk and in the bike lane, and take a lot of weight off our lovely old bridge.
