My husband and I want to thank two young men who responded when I called out to them, Friday, June 29 about 7: 22 p.m. on 28th Avenue at Dunbar to help my partner, Gord McCaw, who was having a serious heart attack. They got him out of the car, as the 911 operator had asked me to do, and which I couldn't have done by myself. One of them assessed that his heart was stopped and administered chest compressions till the fire truck came and the firemen restarted Gord's heart and breathing.
Thanks to these two good samaritans Gord is progressing well after a blocked artery was successfully cleared that same Friday night.
The Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»General Hospital medical staff credit Gord's survival and good condition now with the help given by those caring strangers who gave CPR on the street.
Gord is very grateful to the strangers who gave him CPR and wishes he knew who they are. He and I give them our thanks, and are also very grateful to all the competent, sensitive and articulate VGH emergency and cardiac staff.
