Re: "When Kerrisdale was cool..., Feb. 1.

Thanks so much for the great piece on Kerrisdale Arena concerts by Vancouver's chronicler of cool Aaron Chapman. I was one of the unlucky sods like those in Bev Davies' photo, milling about the entrance on June 26, 1982 hoping to see The Clash without having pre-bought a ticket. But, I did see Split Enz there in their heyday (yes Virginia, the Finn Brothers did have a band before Crowded House). Opening for them were the Fabulous Poodles who were riding the strength of a minor hit called "Bionic Man." Geoff Berner would have appreciated one of the Fab Poos' tunes that started as a French chanson on accordion. The accompanying lyric that really floored me was, "In the south of France, where the women wear no pants." They just don't write 'em like that anymore!
