Re: "Remaining tenants at Little Mountain told to move," Aug. 1.
The issue here is the spirit of the community. The dwellings proposed do not accommodate the living arrangement of the present habitants. The presence of Little Mountain resident Ingrid Steenhuisen helps keep an eye on the proceedings. From Holborn's point of view, a sense of neighbours minimizes the future impact of the proposal. These relationships have been set up for years between newcomers and old residents. The sensitive nature of belonging to a neighbourhood shows an identity that can never be repeated.
This dialogue with the present tenants is essential. Ingrid has been bold enough to stay and create a link between the developers and the planners.
The awareness exhibited by Ingrid should encourage Holborn to be considerate. Her consistent presence to hang out and be more public achieves a trend of replacing the alienation of self containment to sharing ideas. Cooperation is needed to counter the affluence rampant in hermetic boxes. Ingrid will be able to regulate the progress and casually comment and contribute thoughts to the design proposal. Therefore, I would encourage the developer to extend her departure date.
