Medal winners deserve the glory, not Canada

Let us celebrate the accomplishments of the individual and refer to Canadians winning medals not Canada. Clearly in order to raise funding, the governments in turn demand credit in an international arms race devoted to the search for gold, silver and bronze. In truth, outside of the team events, medals are won by an athlete based on a solo effort assisted by personal coaches and indirectly by the national sport infrastructure. The Olympics are designed and meant to provide attention to athletes of extreme merit, not the inflated egos of political groups who bask in unwarranted glory vicariously.
