Re: "Central Park: Lazy liaison?" Sept. 12.
When will park board commissioner Aaron Jasper learn that he cannot continue to mislead the citizens of Vancouver?
I read Courier reporter Sandra Thomas's article and was not at all surprised to learn that the board of the Riley Park/ Hillcrest Community Association wants to replace Jasper as their liaison. Riley Park association board member Jesse Johl said Jasper "just seemed very disinterested." Johl goes on to say that Jasper texted throughout the meeting. I wasn't surprised by these comments as this is typical form for Jasper at park board meetings. Often he leaves his chair to go and speak to staff while a member of the public is speaking.
But what really got me is Jasper's comment, "I've been liaison to this board for three years and was always invited to meetings until Jesse became president."
For the record, I was the park board's liaison to Riley Park from December 2005 to November 2011.
Aaron Jasper needs to stop misleading the very citizens he's there to serve.
