Thanks for the piece on the probiotics research at Acadia University. Interesting that it's the Department of Psychology doing the research; I know lots of similar trials are going on in schools of medicine, looking at the physical effects of probiotics.

I've been following the scientific research on the microbiome for a couple of years and there are promising studies going on that are linking gut microbes to everything from type 1 diabetes to allergies. In fact, I think over the next five years we'll see the research get to the point where we'll have to change Canada's Food Guide to include a daily serving of probiotics.
