In praise of the West End
Surely no one can deny what a pleasure and privilege it is to live in the West End. Hitting the beach or walking the streets on sunny evenings amidst the trees and experiencing the incomparable atmosphere is simply, er, incomparable.

Looking bad, WE
Re: Looking good, ladies, Aug. 23 WE Vancouver. Here is another example of poor journalism and another reminder of the increasing pressure that women face to conform to societys expectations to look a certain way. Need I remind the writer that women do not exist purely to be judged on their looks or the clothes that they wear? If it werent for societys constant pressure on women to conform to a certain ideal, perhaps young women wouldnt be so concerned with trying to impress Canucks jersey-wearing Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»men and, instead, could focus on issues that actually matter to our community.

Put this in your exhaust pipe
This is in response to Victors little rant about cigarette smoke. I havent smoked for four decades but, Victor, let me suggest that you clamp your lips on the tailpipe of a car and take a good huff of that secondhand smoke! We all breathe secondhand smoke;maybe its its time we started to make a fuss about all the automobiles with one driver. I can avoid a cigarette smoker becausethey are not in the elevator with me, they are not in the street with me and I can zip around them with my bicycle. But as I bike down the streets ofÂ鶹´«Ã½Ó³»I am breathing secondhand smoke whether I like it or not because we are a petroleum-based economy. Until we change thatwe will have secondhand smoke and it wont becoming from a few tobacco people; itll be from the drivers whodont get the message to go green and maybe buy an electric car.
