Last week in this space, I wrote a column about women still interested in joining the RCMP despite the flood of alleged sexual harassment cases filed against the national police force. I ended the column with "more on this topic" next week. Sadly, that won't happen-despite determined efforts. I was hoping to use this space today to allow a new cadet in training at the Depot in Regina, Sask. to share with readers why she is still keen to become a Mountie and why she thinks it's important for women to keep joining. I viewed it as a side of the RCMP scandals that hasn't been widely reported. Our email correspondence, which the RCMP okayed, hit a snag. I thought everything was a go Friday, but have encountered deafening silence despite phone calls and emails. I live in hope. Perhaps next week.
