Shark finning a shame on human race

To the editor: I applaud the people protesting in front of restaurants that serve shark fin soup. Not only are the numbers of sharks in the ocean in serious decline, the method of harvesting them is atrocious.

To the editor:

I applaud the people protesting in front of restaurants that serve shark fin soup. Not only are the numbers of sharks in the ocean in serious decline, the method of harvesting them is atrocious. The sharks are caught and their fins are chopped off. The mutilated bodies are then thrown back into the water where a slow death is imminent as the sharks have now lost their ability to swim. The "human beings" doing this don't have the decency to kill off the wounded creatures and thus avoid further agony.

Albert Schweitzer said, "Until he extends the circle of his compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace."

I hope nature takes its revenge on those carrying out and endorsing such cruelties. Once again I am ashamed to belong to the human race.
