Re: "Christians don't care about the environment," Letters, Sept. 5.

It's unfair for Frank G. Sterle, Jr. to characterize Christians as being uncaring of the environment. Had Mr. Sterle perhaps spent more time in his early years attending Sunday school or church than listening to the radio, he would have become acquainted with a song I knew and sang growing up in the 1960s and 70s: "This is my Father's World." The lyrics of that song (along with others I could mention) were obviously written by a Christian writer who loved being out in natural surroundings. As I grew up, I also joined my classmates in Sunday school on hikes, gaining an appreciation for the environment. Today I want to encourage Mr. Sterle to join me (and other people of various religious persuasions) during the third week of September 2012 for the annual "Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup" event, instead of pointing fingers.
