Three outdoor pools not enough for big city

Re: "Pool displeasure," Central Park, June 22.

I feel sorry for the Lord Byng swimmers. The park board seems to think that we are spoilt for choice when it comes to outdoor swimming pools in Vancouver. In fact, we have only three: Second Beach, Kitsilano and New Brighton Park. (Maple Grove is a wading pool). Since the population of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»is over 600,000 that's not a lot of pool per person.

I live in Mount Pleasant and our outdoor swimming pool was closed in 2009. It was a great loss to our community. We are still advocating for the pool to be replaced. Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»should not cut recreational facilities when our population is growing every year.
