A West Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»man charged with three counts of securities fraud and two of breaching an order of the B.C. Securities Commission is facing an October trial.
Frederick Johnathon Nielsen (a.k.a. Fred Gilliland), 73, is to fix a date for his next appearance in Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Provincial Court at the end of August on the charges, which stem from allegations Nielsen violated the Securities Act in August 2018 and June 2019.
Little information has been released about the charges or the investigation, which was conducted by the criminal investigations branch of the BCSC with the help of the West Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»Police Department.
The first appearance on the case, according to court records, was Aug. 2, 2023.
Nielsen was gone through a number of lawyers since that time.
He is now represented by Mark Swartz.
A brief appearance on the case occurred Thursday (July 3).
The trial is scheduled Oct. 7-9.
