Four things to do in Richmond this weekend

A book launch by Hong Kong artist Grace Chan and Mother's Day events are happening throughout this weekend.

From Mother's Day events to meeting a Hong Kong-Canadian actress, there's something for everyone in Richmond this weekend.

1. Historical artifact exhibition

A new two-year historical artifact exhibition is launching at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery this weekend. There will also be a community-curated section where community members have selected artifacts from the Cannery's collection, highlighting personal and historical memories of the old canning days.

Date: Saturday, May 10 until spring 2027
Location: Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site, 12138 Fourth Ave.

2. Hong Kong actress Grace Chan book launch

Hong Kong-Canadian actress and online personality Grace Chan is co-authoring a new children's book with Burnaby author Jillian Ma.
Their book launch for "I Love You from the Sun to the Moon" is being held in Richmond with a live-reading session, meet-and-greet, activities and photo opportunties for fans.

The book will only be sold at the event.

Date: Saturday, May 10 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Location: Aberdeen Centre, 4151 Hazelbridge Way

3. Mother's Day at Athiana Acres

Athiana Acres is hosting a series of floral arrangement workshops during Mother's Day weekend in their glass greenhouse. Guests will be guided during the 90-minute workshops while enjoying an assortment of bites from Butter Baked Goods.

There will also be an expert sharing tips on starting a garden this spring.

Date: Saturday, May 10 and Sunday, May 11 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Location: Athiana Acres, 12800 No. 2 Rd.

4. Plant sale

London Heritage Farm Society is hosting its annual plant sale this weekend.

A variety of plants, including annuals, perennials, succulents, hanging baskets, herbs and tomato plants will be on sale. There are also gifts at their gift shop.

Date: Saturday, May 10 to Sunday, May 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Location: London Farm, 6511 Dyke Rd.
