A new brand of soft drink made in Delta to be good for you is on sale in Thrifty Foods throughout the region.
Jenn Kimberly is founder of Popoff and says the craft soda is now one of the top-10 selling items in the Tsawwassen Thrifty Foods.
Popoff is low-calorie, low sugar, with prebiotic fibre and vitamins.
“I’m still in shock. And even more so … incredibly grateful,” she said online.
She added that as an emerging business, “we don’t have a big team or fancy budgets.”
She started it after her dad died, wondering if he would have benefited by having healthier foods.
“Most days, it’s me behind the wheel, loading up my car, making deliveries and doing everything I can to keep things moving. “So when a community rallies like this, it means everything,” she said.
Popoff is priced at $4.99 a can because it’s made with real ingredients, with vitamins, minerals and fibre and crafted in small batches (in Delta,), she said.
“All the things that make it a better-for-you soda.”
But she adds for some, that price is a bit out of reach.
To make Popoff more price friendly, they teamed up with Thrifty’s to sell it at $3.99 a can, for awhile, followed by another promotion at the end of this week.
She added that she is working to reduce the price even further.
Kimberly adds that hearing words of support means a lot.
“Thank you for showing up, for believing in an emerging local, better-for-you soda with a big dream of making health and wellness less clinical and more fun!”
“It is my hope that one day, future generations will be able to walk into a conventional grocery store and see not only one aisle for natural or organic foods but rather multiple aisles …” she said on her website.
