Four Winds Brewing won five awards recently.

Delta’s Four Winds Brewing has the wind in its sails, after winning five Canadian Brewing Awards.

The national competition invites the best brews from across the country in almost every conceivable category, resulting in a total of 50 categories.

In the Brett wild and mixed culture beer category, defined by the type of yeast used, Four Winds finished with a gold and bronze medal.

Its beer, Operis, a Brett saison with seven percent alcohol, claimed the top spot, while Cherryoperis, with hints of cherry pie, grabbed bronze.

Four Winds also claimed gold in the German wheat and rye beer category with its Dunkelweizen, made at Four Winds Beach House and Brewery, in Tsawwassen.

The beer also won the silver medal for best in show.

The company also won a silver in a completely different category, that of experimental and speciality India Pale Ale, with its Blue Dream Hazy IPA.

Adam Mills, general manager with Four Winds, said online, “Still brewing, still dreaming, still standing. We’re honoured to share that we brought home five awards from this year’s Canadian Brewing Awards, thanks to the incredible work of our team at both River Road and the Four Winds Beach House.

“To our team, you’ve earned every bit of this. Thank you for the care, the skill, and the relentless effort behind every beer we make.

“And to those who’ve shared a glass with us — this is for you, too,” Mills said.

Another local brewery also scooped up a bronze medal, with Britannia Brewing, in Ladner Village, winning the award for its Peach Wit fruit beer.
