Happyland Giant Dipper

Nearly a mile long, and so thrilling that the future King Edward VIII thundered down its tracks twice during a visit in 1927, the Happyland Giant Dipper was nevertheless demolished in 1948 to make room for an extension of the Hastings Racetrack. Children were saddened by the news, the Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­Province noted. But the odds were that some adults rejoiced at the thought of the following season’s betting.
