Museum of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»

The Centennial Museum and H.R. MacMillan Planetarium were officially opened on October 26, 1968. Mayor Tom Campbell was there; so was H.R. MacMillan himself. The planetarium, which cost $1.5 million, was his gift to the city. Today the complex is known as the Museum of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»and the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre. And, yes, that famous roof really was inspired by the shape of the traditional woven basket hats worn by First Nations people on the coast.
