Percy Williams

Raised high by cheering teammates, gold medalist Percy Williams of Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­had won both the 200 and 100-metre dash at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. When he returned to Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­he was greeted with a waste-paper parade (the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»­equivalent of a ticker- tape parade) on Granville Street.
