Driver fleeing Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­police ends in fiery crash in Burnaby

No arrests have been made in an incident that started in Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­and ended in Burnaby early Sunday morning.

Police are still looking for a driver who took off from a traffic stop in Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­and ended up in a fiery crash in Burnaby early Sunday morning.

Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­police spotted a red Mercedes speeding along Southeast Marine Drive near Fraser Street at around 3:30 a.m., according to spokesperson Const. Tania Visintin.

The same vehicle was seen a short time later running a red light near Matheson Crescent and Marine Drive, she said.

Officers tried to pull the car over, but it took off into Burnaby and crashed into a tree near Joffre Avenue and Marine Drive.  

"The vehicle caught on fire and the driver and passenger fled the area," Visintin said.

No arrests have been made so far.
