Man charged in Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­park homicide

A 47-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of another man in Vancouver’s Crab Park earlier this year.

The Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­Police Department said Brett Michael MacDonald, 51, was found deceased by a passerby on the Downtown Eastside waterfront park’s northwest side along the gravel path just before 8:30 a.m. on March 22.

“Investigators believe the homicide was targeted,” police said.

Charged in the case is Jason Patrick Hnatyshyn, according to court documents. He appeared before Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»­Provincial Court Judge Kathryn Denhoff May 30 and remains in custody.

Hnatyshyn’s next court appearance is June 26.
