The local company runs three generations, and was founded in 1932 by Polish immigrant, Isadore Hochfelder, who began his career as a door-to-door umbrella repairman in Toronto. He moved west and opened their first manufacturing facility and retail store on West Pender Street, in the heart of the city.
A true success story, the family business is now headed up by the founder’s granddaughter, Shana Hochfelder.
The automatic-open rain-buster we just released with them features a wooden handle and shaft, nickel metal tips, and coated black metal ribs and joints.
