On June 7 to 8, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Doors Open Richmond invites you to art studios, historic sites, places of worship, farms and civic centres. It’s more than just a tour, it’s an opportunity to step inside and experience the values, traditions and creativity that shape the community.
“This event is about opening the door to connect and to be a tourist in your own city,” says Celine Hong, a board member for the Richmond Museum Society, which organizes the annual event. “It is an opportunity to explore creative, cultural and spiritual diversity and to really celebrate that.”
This year’s program is expected to draw crowds once again, continuing a strong tradition of civic engagement. Since it started, more than 269,000 visitors have taken part, exploring everything from Buddhist temples to community farms. Whether someone is a lifelong local or a curious tourist, Doors Open Richmond is a chance to learn, share and celebrate together.
“We’re proud to highlight so many partner sites this year,” says Hong. “From historic homesteads and museums to places of worship and artist studios, this will be the largest edition of Doors Open Richmond in a decade.”

“It just goes to really show the demand for events like these,” says Hong. “There are new sites that even I will be exploring for the first time. It‘s about raising awareness and realizing how welcoming these diverse spaces are and being able to learn more.”

“We’re making Richmond’s cultural heritage feel alive and approachable,” says Hong. “This isn’t a city we’re visiting for a week abroad, this is our home, where engaging our neighbours brings a lot of perspective and appreciation.”
