Travellers departing from Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»still have several cheap flight options over the Canada Day long weekend.
Although the weekend is broken up by Monday, June 30 (it is not a holiday), many people may choose to take the day off.
Although it might not seem possible to get somewhere tropical on a budget while avoiding the United States, a few flights from Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»International Airport (YVR) to top Mexican cities are affordable, leaving in a couple of days.
Merida
Merida is the capital of the Mexican state of Yucatán, providing endless places to explore, dine, and shop, as well as a vibrant nightlife scene. It is also close to fascinating Mayan ruins and beautiful beaches.
An Aeromexico flight departing from Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»on Saturday, June 28, and returning from Merida on July 1 costs $544 through third-party FlightHub (see slide two). The itinerary includes a seven-hour stopover in Mexico City on the outbound journey and a just over two hours one on the return.
This price is considered "typical" for economy, according to Google Flights. This means you aren't paying a premium despite flying last-minute on a holiday.
San José del Cabo
Located at the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California Peninsula, Los Cabos has several jaw-dropping, ultra-luxurious resorts that offer all-inclusive stays.
Mexico's fastest-growing resort area includes the two towns of Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. An Aeromexico flight departing from Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»on Saturday, June 28 and returning from San José del Cabo on July 1 costs $529 through third-party JustFly (see slide three). The itinerary includes one stop in Mexico City on the outbound journey for 5.5 hours and one on the return for an hour and 45 minutes.
This price is considered "low" for economy or about $242 cheaper than usual, according to Google Flights. This means you're actually scoring a hot deal during the busy travel period on a last-minute ticket.
Puerto Vallarta
World-famous tequila, delectable Mexican cuisine, beautiful beaches, and beaming sunshine are just a few of the reasons why people flock to Puerto Vallarta in droves. And, while it can be fun just to kick back and relax at a resort, the city offers numerous things to see and do.
A United Airlines flight departing from Âé¶¹´«Ã½Ó³»on Saturday, June 28, and returning from Puerto Vallarta on Tuesday, July 2 costs $474 (see slide three). The itinerary includes two short stops, one in Chicago and one in Houston, on the outbound journey, and one for two hours and 20 minutes on the return for an hour and a half.
This price is considered "low" for economy or about $361 cheaper than usual, according to Google Flights. This means you're getting an even hotter deal than the one to Los Cabos, although you may need to book an extra day off work to return on Tuesday.
