Long-time vegetarian restaurant in Richmond closes after 15 years

Owners have hung up their aprons to enjoy retirement.

Richmond's award-winning 4 Stones Vegetarian restaurant closed permanently after 15 years on April 20, 2025.

Richmond's food scene is saying goodbye to a long-time vegetarian restaurant.

The owners of  on Westminster Highway announced the permanent closure of the business after 15 years as they decided to hang up their aprons and "embrace retirement."

"Words cannot fully express the depth of our gratitude for your unwavering support and loyalty over the past decade and a half," the restaurant .

"You welcomed us into your lives, celebrated milestones with us, shared countless meals around our tables, and became more than just customers – you became part of the 4 Stones family.

"We have cherished the opportunity to share our passion for vegetarian cuisine with you and are incredibly proud of the community that has grown around our little place."

The brand first started as a vegetarian restaurant in Taiwan and opened its Richmond outpost on Ackroyd Road under the name Simply Vegetarian in 2008.

A few years later, the restaurant moved to the Westminster Highway location and renamed itself as 4 Stones Vegetarian in 2010.

This vegetarian restaurant was known for its soy vegetarian meat products that were made from scratch for dishes like their kung pao veggie chicken, veggie beef brisket stew, and veggie lemon fish.

Since its opening, the restaurant has received many awards and recognitions, including Best Chinese Vegetarian Award in 2009 and 2015, as well as Best Vegetarian restaurant in the  Chinese Restaurant Awards 2022: Vancouver's 20 Best.

The restaurant officially closed on April 20.
