One of this year's most anticipated new 鶹ýӳrestaurants has just revealed its opening date.
is a new French-Quebecois spot joining the Fraser corridor and one of its key partners is J-C Poirier, chef and owner of Vancouver's acclaimed one Michelin-starred St. Lawrence.
The Chez Céline team took over the space at 4298 Fraser St near the end of last year, soon after predecessor Say Mercy! wrapped up its tenure in November.
Joining Poirier on this new venture are Margaux Herder and David Lawson, both St Lawrence alum, .
This week, Chez Céline's social media feed ignited with its opening date announcement, now set for Friday, May 23.
While the project had previously only been described as "a French affair" with "a kitchen of honest cuisine. Friends, family — everyone in between," the Chez Céline have now shared a few more details.
"Expect the edgy charm of Montréal, the effortless elegance of Paris and the communal warmth of Québec’s casse-croûtes come alive inside a beaming, beautiful room on the corner of Fraser and 27th," reads a May 8 Instagram post.
A "casse-croûte" is essentially a snack or light meal; it's a term used to describe casual Quebec eateries.
The Instagram announcement goes on to indicate that reservations for Chez Céline will open soon, though the restaurant will "always leave ample room for walk-ins."
"It’s been a crazy few months leading up to our grand opening, but we’re over the moon and can’t wait to embrace our new neighbourhood and community," the operators share.
