Do you remember where you were back in 2006 when that windstorm hit Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»and downed an estimated 10,000 trees in Stanley Park? I was living in a condo on the 31st floor in the heart of Yaletown and didn't leave the house that night and I had no idea it was even happening. I didn't see nor hear the wind howling, but I certainly saw the aftermath; not only in the park but at a bunch of areas up Howe Sound that I visited shortly after had been hit pretty hard as well. It's been roughly 8 years since that madness and Stanley Park Brewing has just released a new benefit beer called . When they sent me this can with a sapling below I thought that every one might come with a plantable spruce (or is it a hemlock?), but I was happy to hear that instead of wasting money of giving us trees to plant on our own they're giving 25 cents from the sale of each can directly to the , a charitable organization whose mission is to "promote awareness of and respect for the natural world and plays a leadership role in the stewardship of Stanley Park through collaborative initiatives in education, research and conservation.".
