Air Canada flights from Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»to Tampa and Nashville will continue in May 2026, but top routes will be suspended from Montreal and Toronto in 2025.

Metro Vancouverites worried about losing two of Air Canada's major U.S. routes can take a breath.

Air Canada is suspending service on several major U.S. routes following decreased interest in transborder travel, sparking concern among local travellers looking at routes from Vancouver.

The airline confirmed with V.I.A. Monday, May 26, that it is suspending service to three major U.S. routes from Canada, including Montreal to Detroit and Minneapolis, and Toronto to Indianapolis for the fall and winter season. However, it will continue to serve Detroit and Minneapolis from Toronto and resume service on the suspended routes in May 2026.

Two routes from Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»International Airport (YVR) ending in the fall were intended as seasonal routes. While they discontinue after October, the airline plans to start them again in the spring of 2026.

Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»routes were intended as seasonal, and should return with demand

Canada's flag carrier launched a new direct service between Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»and Nashville on May 1, but it was intended to be a seasonal service with flights ending in October.

Similarly, the twice-weekly, direct service between Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»and Tampa "have been historically seasonal," according to Air Canada.

"Winter is generally considered Oct. 30 to April 30, but the shoulder months are fluid," the airline told V.I.A. "We evaluate all of our routes regularly and will make adjustments to ensure that the schedule reflects commercial demand.

"As for the other routes, the suspensions were commercial decisions."

Air Canada says it plans to resume the Tampa and Nashville flights from Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³»in May 2026.
