T&T Supermarket opened its third Richmond location on Aug. 16 to much fanfare and pandemonium.
Hundreds of people lined up in the morning to enter the new store at Lansdowne Centre - the former site of Eatons, Zellers, and Target – that features Asian groceries and cuisine.
Key, specific features include: a Seafood Bar where employees will cook seafood on the spot for a fee; a sit-down cafeteria; a pharmacy; and a Starbucks.
The store has 14 self-serve checkouts in addition to nine cashiers.
According to T&T: “The store also boasts over 30 Asian Street Food dishes from China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. There is Popcorn Chicken, a famous snack from Taiwan’s night market, Lamb Soup and Sesame Crispy Cake, anostalgic Northern Chinese breakfast item, and Steamed Rice Rolls, which are a classic representation of Hong Kong culinary delights.â€
Lansdowne Centre will be redeveloped in phases over the next decade, so it is unclear how long this store will last in the existing building, which opens into the mall.
